2022 Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Application For Developing Countries

Applications for 2022 commonwealth shared scholarships are now open and students from developing commonwealth countries can apply using the basic guidelines given in this article. This scholarship is offered to candidates from least developed and lower-middle-income commonwealth countries to undertake full-time master’s studies on selected courses at UK universities.

The scholarships are offered in partnership with select UK Universities. Funded by the UK Foreign commonwealth and development office (FCDO) commonwealth shared scholarships enable talented and motivated individuals to gain the knowledge and skills required for sustainable development and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.

Scholarship Value

Each scholarship provides;

  1. Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants nor the cost of Journeys made before your award is confirmed) – arranged by the university; funded by the CSC
  2. Approved tuition feed – funded by the CSC
  3. Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of 1,133 pounds (money) or 1,390 pounds (money) per month for those at universities in the london metropolitan area (rates quoted at 2021-2022 levels) – paid and funded by the university
  4. Warm clothing allowance, where applicable-paid and funded by the university
  5. Thesis grant towards the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable claimed from and paid by the university; funded by the CSC
  6. Study travel grant towards the cost of study-related travle within the UK or overseas – claimed from and paid by the university; funded by the CSC
  7. Reimbursement of the cost of a mandatory tuberculosis (TB) test, where required for a visa application (receipts must be supplied) – claimed from and paid by the university; funded by the CSC
  8. If you are widowed, divorced, or single parent, child allowance of 485 pounds (money) per month for the first child, aqnd 120 pounds (money) per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your children and living with you at the same address in the UK (rates quoted at 2021-2022 levels)
  9. If you declare a disability, a full assessment of your needs and eligibility for additional financial support will be offered by the CSC.

2022 Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Eligible

The scholarship is for candidates from least developed and lower-middle-income Commonwealth countries, to undertake full-time master’s study on selected coursed at a Uk University.

To apply for these scholarships, you must;

  1. A citizen of or have been grnated refugee status by an eligible commowealth country or be a british protected person
  2. Be permanently resident in an eligible commonwealth country
  3. Be available to start ypour academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in september 2022.
  4. By september 20-22, hold a first degree of atleast upper second class (2:1) honours standard or a lower second class degreee (2:2) and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a master’s degree)
  5. Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country
  6. Be unable to affored to study at a UK university without this scholarship
  7. Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format

How To Apply

You must apply for your scholarship to be tenable at one of the following approved courses at a participating UK university.

You can apply for more than one course and to more than one university through the commonwealth shared scholarship scheme, but you may only accept one offer of a shared scholarship. Note these awards are only for master’s courses and not for undergraduate or Ph.D. study.

You must also secure admission to your course in addition to applying for a Shared Scholarship. Please check with your chosen university for their specific advice on when to apply, admission requirements, and rules for applying.

You must make your application using the CSC’s online application system, in addition to any other application that you are required to complete by your nominating body. The CSC will not accept any applications that are not submitted via the online application system.

Application Closing Date

Applications will close at 16:00 (GMT) on 20 December 2021.

You are advised to complete and submit your application as soon as possible, as the online application system will be very busy in the days leading up to the application deadline.
